"Loki" is a vibrant and captivating series created by Michael Waldron exclusively for Disney+, based on the iconic Marvel character. The story takes place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), seamlessly intertwining with the events of the franchise's films. The story picks up immediately after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), where an alternate version of Loki creates a new timeline. The project was developed by Marvel Studios. Michael Waldron served as head writer for the first season, with Kate Herron directing. Eric Martin became head writer for the second season, with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead directing.

The series once again stars Tom Hiddleston, who has excelled as the charismatic Loki, capturing the hearts of a wide audience. Owen Wilson played an equally significant role, adding a special dynamic to the project. The concept of creating a series about Marvel's supporting characters was first formulated at Marvel Studios in September 2018, with Loki's story being one of the first priority ideas. In November of that year, the project was officially confirmed, with Hiddleston cast in the lead role. Michael Waldron joined the production team in February 2019, and Kate Herron took over as director in August of that year. Filming began in January 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced adjustments, temporarily halting production in March. Filming resumed in the fall, and by December 2020, the first season was fully completed. Eric Martin and the Benson/Moorhead duo have been entrusted with the second season. Production for the second season moved to the UK and ran from June to October 2022.

The first six-episode series, part of the MCU's Phase Four, premiered on June 9, 2021. It received rave reviews from critics, who praised the strong acting and impressive visuals. The second season, with the same number of episodes, was part of Marvel's Phase Five and premiered on October 5, 2023, continuing to delight viewers with its gripping storyline and magical atmosphere.

A brief description of the events of the series

After the events of "Avengers: Endgame", Loki creates an alternate version of himself, which immediately attracts the attention of an organization responsible for maintaining the temporal order. This structure, a kind of Federal Bureau of Temporal Investigation, is engaged in tracking down and eliminating those whose actions threaten to disrupt the established Sacred Timeline, controlled by a mysterious group known as the Time Keepers.

Once captured by the organization, Loki encounters one of its agents, who offers him a deal: freedom in exchange for cooperation. Loki must help catch a dangerous timeline violator, a "variant", whose destructive actions threaten the entire stability of time. This mysterious enemy travels through eras and locations, methodically eliminating members of the organization. However, Loki is soon astonished to discover that his target is none other than a female version of himself, named Sylvia.

The plot gradually transforms: the initial conflict with Sylvia takes on new shades. Initially perceived as the main antagonist, she gradually opens up from a different side, becoming a key character in the story and eclipsing Loki. The focus of the narrative shifts to the time control system itself, turning it into the main enemy. The goals of the investigation and the motives of the characters' actions change significantly: instead of simply chasing Sylvia, attention switches to exploring and confronting the system itself. The lines between good and evil begin to blur, increasing the tension between the characters and deepening the complexity of events. The story takes on a multi-layered look, adding a new dimension to the drama and intrigue.
