The American science fiction series The X-Files, created by Chris Carter, first premiered on September 10, 1993, and aired until March 21, 2018, spanning a quarter-century. During this time, 218 episodes were produced, making the show not only popular on the Fox network but also a landmark in popular culture. The show's symbolism and phrases like "The truth is out there," "Trust no one," and "I want to believe" became deeply ingrained in 1990s pop culture.
The main plot revolves around themes of mistrust of government institutions, conspiracy theories, and attempts to find evidence of extraterrestrial life—a philosophy that perfectly captured the spirit of the times. Frank Spotnitz contributed significantly to the scriptwriting, writing approximately 50 episodes.

The series' franchise extends beyond television: two feature-length films, The X-Files: Fight the Future (1998) and The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008), as well as a spin-off called The Lone Gunmen, have been produced.
At the time of its conclusion, the series was considered the longest-running science fiction television show in American television history. However, this record was subsequently surpassed by other projects, such as Stargate SG-1 and Smallville.
After a thirteen-year hiatus, on March 24, 2015, Fox officially announced the series' return for a six-episode tenth season. Filming took place that summer, and the series premiered on January 24, 2016. Later, on October 24, 2016, it was announced that the show had been renewed for a ten-episode eleventh season. Its broadcast began on January 3, 2018, and ended on March 21 of the same year, bringing the series' long history to an end.

Brief Description of Series Events
The series called "The X-Files" immerses viewers in a gripping story that centers around two FBI agents, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Their main goal is to shed light on the dark secrets hidden by a mysterious, highly organized government group. This organization has access to classified information regarding the presence of extraterrestrial beings on Earth and their influence on the fate of humanity.
Fox Mulder, driven by a deep conviction in the existence of a global truth, is literally obsessed with finding evidence that would confirm his theories about aliens and the cover-up of their activities. However, in the course of his persistent work, he discovers that reality is much more complex and multifaceted than it seems at first glance. The world turns out to be literally overflowing with all sorts of conspiracies, deceptions and carefully guarded secrets that create almost insurmountable barriers to gaining a complete picture of the truth.
As the plot develops, viewers learn about the existence of the so-called Syndicate - a powerful structure that plays a key role as an intermediary between humanity and an alien civilization. The latter acts with aggressive intentions: its ultimate goal is to destroy most of the Earth's population by colonizing the planet. However, another alien group, known as the Faceless Rebels, appears on the path of these insidious plans. These mysterious creatures act as a kind of resistance force and seek to prevent the implementation of plans to capture the Earth.
Such a complex and multi-layered plot not only draws viewers into an intriguing and philosophical story, but also makes them think about the nature of truth, the value of human life and the endless struggle for freedom in the face of constant pressure from the unknown and extraterrestrial.
