Plot

Brief Description of Events of the Series

The plot of the TV series "House of the Dragon" focuses on a complex web of family intrigues and a fierce struggle for power between representatives of the Targaryen dynasty, which was at the zenith of its power.

King Viserys I Targaryen, contrary to established traditions, according to which women have no right to occupy the Iron Throne, officially proclaims his daughter Rhaenyra his heir. However, Viserys has other potential male heirs - sons Aegon and Aemond, born in his second marriage. In addition, the monarch's younger brother, Daemon Targaryen, claims the throne.

After Viserys's death, the Targaryen dynasty is split: part of the Great Council and a significant part of the noble houses of Westeros take the side of Rhaenyra, supporting the so-called "Black Party", while the other part of the nobility unites around the king's sons within the "Green Party". Internal disagreements escalate into a full-scale conflict, resulting in a devastating civil war, which went down in history as the "Dance of the Dragons".
