The sitcom "Young Sheldon," is an American television series created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro for CBS.
This series serves as a prequel and spin-off of the popular show The Big Bang Theory and chronicles the early life of Sheldon Cooper, a brilliant boy with exceptional intellectual abilities. The series takes place in East Texas, where nine-year-old Sheldon, endowed with an unusual intellect, is already attending high school. Iain Armitage plays the title role, with other family members portrayed by Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Regan Revord, Montana Jordan, and Annie Potts. Jim Parsons, best known as the adult Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory, serves as the narrator and one of the producers of the project.
The concept for the show was unveiled in November 2016, when Jim Parsons pitched the idea to the producers of The Big Bang Theory. In March 2017, Iain Armitage and Zoe Perry were cast in the lead roles, after which CBS ordered the series. The pilot episode premiered on September 25, 2017, and two days later, the network greenlit a full season, which began on November 2 of that year. In March 2021, the show was renewed for three seasons—fifth, sixth, and seventh. The final season began on February 15, 2024.
In January 2024, a new spinoff, titled Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, was announced, following the adventures of Georgie Cooper and Mandy McCallister. The new project premiered on October 17, 2024.
